Before the foot and its problems can be treated it must be fully understood. A good working knowledge of the body's systems and their relationship with the feet gives us the understanding to solve problems when the foot suffers illness or injury.
Theory come before being let loose on patients and a good knowledge of cartilage, ligaments, bones, fractures, skeletal development, muscle structure, muscle organisation, the heart, the whole circulatory system, integumentary system, tissue viability, lymphatic circulation, the nervous system, respiration and the endocrine system gives a basis on which to begin the study of foot medicine.
The structure of the foot and its part in gait and stances are understood as are the effects of flat foot, bunions, arthritis and other disorders. Skin problems and a wide range of skin conditions are understood.
Practical training is the only way to learn to take care of the foot. By working in clinic and facing different foot problems on a daily basis we come to experience a wide range of complaints under the watchful eyes of experienced podiatrists with years of experience. Each new challenge is met and dealt with on patients who come to the college and help our study's by being guinea pigs for our training.
To recognise a thorough understanding of the workings of the human body and the foots interdependency with it. Manchester foot care has been awarded a distinction with a diploma in foot health practitioner theory. To recognise the ability to diagnose and treat a wide range of foot complaints Manchester foot care has been awarded a distinction with a diploma in foot health practitioner practical. The examinations were set by Stonebridge college in Bude, Cornwall and overseen and regulated by the NCFE
Qualifications are a great starter for education though it is the experience that we gain that can let us truly master our art.
