Verrucas are simply warts that happen to be growing on the bottom of the foot. A wart in itself will do us no harm but when we stand on it then we notice the pain. To worsen the condition, the body produces callus around the verruca which only leaves us with a larger lump to stand on and cause us more pain.
The verruca is due to a virus which shows itself on the foot. Our body's natural defence should find the virus and destroy it but due to the very nature of viruses this may take some time. If we are fit and healthy then the verruca may be found and dealt with by the body in a short period of time but if we are under the weather or have health issues then this timescale may be much longer.
Firstly any overlying callus is removed to bring immediate comfort. Treatment is dependant on the location and number of verrucas on the foot. Each case is unique but comfort is usually immediate.
